I recently had the pleasure of visiting Morocco, and I must say, it’s a truly magical place. It has, in a way, has stolen my heart to the point that I wanted to stay a little bit longer. From the bustling medinas to the vast Sahara Desert, there’s something for everyone. Get ready to immerse yourself in a sensory feast as we take you on a journey through the best destinations in this beautiful country.
Casablanca

My journey started in Casablanca, where I visited the impressive Hassan II Mosque. The Old Medina was also a treat for the senses, with its colorful markets and intricate architecture. However, be prepared for the pushy sales tactics of the vendors.
Rabat

From Casablanca, I took a train to Rabat, the capital city of Morocco. The city is filled with historical landmarks, such as the Hassan Tower, the Royal Palace, and the Kasbah of the Udayas. I was amazed by the intricate architecture of the buildings and the colorful markets that filled the streets. But don’t be surprised if you encounter some persistent street vendors.
Tangier
Tangier, a port city in northern Morocco, was a delightful blend of African, European, and Arabic influences. I roamed around the winding streets of the medina and visited the Tangier American Legation Museum, a must-see for history buffs. From Tangier, Southern Spain is very visible. You can be there through a ferry from the Tangier Marina in just an hour.
Chefchaouen

Chefchaouen was a highlight of my trip, the “Blue City,” is a photographer’s paradise. This picturesque town located in the Rif Mountains is famous for its blue-painted buildings, winding streets, and a laid-back atmosphere. Take a stroll and explore the many handicraft shops, cafes, and restaurants, or hike in the surrounding mountains. And of course, don’t miss out on the famous Moroccan mint tea.
Marrakech
The “Red City,” a hub of activity where you can feast your eyes on intricate architecture and explore bustling markets. The city’s Jemaa el-Fnaa square is the place to be, where street performers, snake charmers, and food stalls come alive at night. Experience the grandeur of the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, and the Saadian Tombs to dive deeper into Morocco’s rich history and architecture.
Fez
The cultural and spiritual center of Morocco, is where you can get lost in a labyrinth of narrow streets and alleys in the old medina. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is dotted with mosques, madrasas, and other historical landmarks, such as the Bou Inania Madrasa and the Al-Attarine Madrasa. But beware of getting lost in the winding streets, and be cautious of pickpockets.
Sahara

No trip to Morocco is complete without visiting the Sahara Desert. Take a camel trek through the sand dunes, watch the sunset over the desert, and spend the night in a traditional Bedouin tent. But keep in mind that it can get quite chilly at night, so pack warm clothing.
Ourzazate

Ourzazate, a city located in the southern foothills of the Atlas Mountains, offered stunning landscapes and served as a backdrop for many famous movies. The Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou was a must-see, and exploring the movie studios was a unique experience.
Essaouira
Lastly, Essaouira, a charming coastal town, was a perfect place to relax on the beach, stroll around the medina, and try some delicious fresh seafood. But watch out for the strong coastal winds that can make it hard to keep your hat on.
Morocco is full of surprises and offers something for every traveler. Marrakech, Fez, Chefchaouen, the Sahara Desert, and Essaouira are just a few of the many destinations that await you in this vibrant and colorful country. But, like any other country, it’s important to be cautious when traveling. Be wary of scams and unmarked taxis, and always have your wits about you. With some common sense and a sense of adventure, you’ll have an amazing time exploring all that Morocco has to offer.
So pack your bags, get ready to be transported into a world of sensory delight and experience the magic of Morocco!
