Exploring the Best of Ontario: The Ultimate Travel Guide

If you’re looking for a fantastic travel destination, look no further than Ontario, Canada! I recently visited with my friend Melody and her family and had the time of my life. Here are some of the must-see places and activities you should add to your itinerary:

Niagara Falls

Of course, the first thing you have to see is Niagara Falls! We drove there from our starting point and it was a journey worth every minute. The snowy scenery made for a picturesque trip, and upon arriving at the falls, we were blown away by the sight of the waterfalls, which are absolutely breathtaking. The stunning rainbow that arched over the falls was just the cherry on top of the whole experience.

We walked along the Niagara Parkway and took tons of photos of the falls, but the best way to experience them up close is to take a boat ride on the Maid of the Mist. We put on ponchos and headed down to the boat, which takes you right up to the base of the falls. It’s definitely a thrilling experience and the view of the falls from the boat is absolutely amazing!

Toronto

Toronto, Canada’s largest city and a vibrant hub of culture, food, and entertainment! There’s so much to see and do here, but I recommend starting your visit with a few key stops:

Distillery District

The Distillery District is a must-visit neighborhood for anyone interested in Toronto’s history and architecture. The area used to be a whiskey distillery, but has since been converted into a pedestrian-only district with beautiful Victorian architecture, cobblestone streets, and tons of shops and restaurants. I recommend grabbing a coffee or hot chocolate from Balzac’s, browsing the artisanal goods at the shops, and admiring the street art and sculptures. If you’re visiting during the holiday season, the district also hosts a popular Christmas Market that’s worth checking out.

CN Tower

If you’re looking for a great view of the city, head to the CN Tower, one of Toronto’s most recognizable landmarks. The tower has an observation deck that offers stunning panoramic views of the city and Lake Ontario. For a truly unique experience, try the EdgeWalk, where you can walk around the outside of the tower’s main pod while harnessed to a safety rail.

Toronto Sign

Another popular spot to visit in Toronto is the Toronto sign, located in Nathan Phillips Square. This iconic sign, which spells out “TORONTO,” is a popular spot for photos, especially at night when it’s lit up. The square itself is also a great spot to hang out and people-watch, especially during the summer when there are often events and concerts happening.

Ottawa

Ottawa is the capital of Canada and has a lot to offer. The Parliament buildings are stunning and you can take a free tour to learn about the country’s history and government. The Rideau Canal, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers skating in the winter and boat rides in the summer. We also visited the Canadian Museum of History, which was fascinating and informative.

There are so many other places to see and things to do in Ontario, but these are some of the highlights that I would recommend. Ontario is a beautiful province that has something for everyone, whether you’re interested in nature, history, or just having a good time.
